Within the framework of the Restructuring of the TransMetro System in Nuevo León, Metrorrey has put into operation electric buses manufactured locally by the Marcopolo company. These Torino model vehicles with a Marcopolo body were built in Nuevo León, with 90% local supplies.
The new electric buses will be assigned to the TransMetro Pablo Livas – Expósito Station route, making it the first bus corridor operated with electric units in the entity.
In an event with the presence of state officials, businessmen, chamber representatives and the general public, Governor Samuel García highlighted that this is the first TransMetro route with 100% electric units assembled in Nuevo León.
For his part, the director of Metrorrey, Abraham Vargas, pointed out that this incorporation advances the objective of improving the quality of life of people and increasing the productivity of the State, by having sustainable, digital and intermodal mobility.
Vargas specified that the new units are sustainable as they are 100% electric, and that the energy that Metrorrey will provide to supply the batteries of these buses will come mostly from the Comprehensive System for Ecological Management and Waste Processing (SIMEPRODE).
Marcopolo electric buses have accessibility ramps, a low floor for seniors, a bicycle rack, climate, Internet, WiFi and cameras connected to the Public Safety C5.
Present at the event were Lucas Gabardo, General Director of Marcopolo México, and Rafael Burgos Aguilar, Director of Enel X México, among other guests.
This initiative represents an important step towards sustainable mobility in Nuevo León, by incorporating locally manufactured electric buses that will contribute to reducing polluting emissions and improving air quality in the entity.
