ECOTOURS moves to natural gas with Llanogas

The company Escoturs seeks to position itself in the capital of Meta as one of the pioneer companies in the special passenger transport sector, implementing vehicles dedicated to natural gas. For this reason, it recently acquired a bus dedicated one hundred percent to natural gas, with Euro V emission standard, from the Golden Dragon brand.

This project is not the only one in our region, since the company Bioagricola del Llano, provider of residential public sanitation service in Villavicencio, was a pioneer in integrating CNG technology in its operations and currently has nine vehicles dedicated to natural gas. of the Scania brand, with Euro VI emission standard, and will soon acquire two more vehicles.

It is estimated that these three new vehicles, which will arrive in Villavicencio, will begin operations at the end of 2022 in their respective companies, thus contributing to the improvement of the environment and air quality in the Llanera region.

In order to know the mitigation of the environmental impact of natural gas fleets versus diesel fleets, the companies Llanogas and BioagrĂcola del Llano carried out an environmental study in relation to the waste collection compactors of the sanitation provider, and found the following results:

  • 80% reduction in Total Hydrocarbons THC
  • 80% reduction in Carbon Monoxide CO emissions
  • 91% reduction of Nitrogen Oxides NOx
  • 95% reduction in Particulate Matter PM 2.5
  • 66% reduction in Carbon Dioxide CO2, equivalent to a reduction of 18 Metric Tons of CO2 per year.

These figures show that natural gas technology is a strategic ally in the energy transition process, and that it contributes greatly to the commitments made by the country at COP 26.

Additionally, the Llanogas company is added to these projects, which has a dedicated Sitrak natural gas truck, with Euro V emission standard. Likewise, a large part of its fleet of light vehicles have a gas conversion system vehicular nature.

The technology of dedicated gas vehicles not only brings great environmental benefits, it also brings with it economic and tax advantages for their owners, allowing them to access benefits such as VAT deduction on the purchase of the vehicle, reduction in the payment of tariffs, discounts on the SOAT insurance, contractual and non-contractual policies, discount on mechanical technical review, ten-year exemption on the certificate of polluting gas emissions and rent deduction. Some of these benefits are subject to prior approval and certification by the Energy Mining Planning Unit-UPME and the National Environmental Licensing Authority-ANLA, among other additional benefits of the technology.

Lastly, in terms of supply at the national level, there are close to 800 vehicular natural gas service stations. In the department of Meta we currently have sixteen CNG service stations with a presence in the municipalities of Villavicencio, AcacĂas, Granada and Cumaral; as well as service stations in the city of Yopal, capital of the department of Casanare.
